Project Management

The success of your project primarily boils down to how well it is managed.  Even though this sounds so basic, it is commonly not well executed.  SAP projects (implementations, upgrades, etc.) are not necessarily like other IT projects.  We are experienced with SAP’s ASAP project methodology.  We understand how critical each phase is – starting with project preparation/ planning – which is often not taken seriously enough and sets the tone for the project and how it will be supported.  Blueprinting is critical from a business process standpoint, but has to be balanced as too much detail can impair the design of the foundational components.  Realization (configuration, testing, etc.) must be broken out into manageable cycles – with the cycles being synchronized across all modules (including the technical design).  Data conversions are typically underestimated and started too late, and the process is not owned/shared.  Integration testing is critically important yet surprisingly poorly executed.  The proper execution of these activities cannot be taught, it can only be gained through experience.  In addition, the project manager cannot be the only one ‘managing’ these activities.  The team leaders must provide support and manage their tasks accordingly.

All of our partners have managed SAP implementation teams (and the respective project plans) and most have managed SAP projects.  We also have partners that have primarily served as overall project managers.  We are all familiar with how to develop a project plan (and the tools associated to manage them).  We have experienced well run projects as well as challenging projects.  We have extensive knowledge of how to plan and manage a project to meet the objectives within the budget and timeline constraints – without sacrificing the quality of the solution.

Project Assessment

Once you enter the SAP world, change becomes constant.  Understanding the changes and preparing for the changes can be overwhelming – whether you are considering an upgrade, implementation of a new functionality, building an interface or even the review of an already proposed solution.  You can’t afford to let these changes be a burden.  When it comes time to make strategic decsions regarding your SAP system, it is critical that you understand all aspects.  Our business and SAP experience allows us to fill this strategic role – helping you assess your project to optimize your path to improvement.
